BIOGRAPHY
For as long as I have been inspired by people, I have also been intrigued by cameras, photography and lasting memories. Unlike people, photographs do not come and go...they linger on as a permanent record and reminder of our past and present. The art and beauty comes in that moment of preservation, a moment that will be treasured for generations to come. It's why I love looking at old photos - whether they're my memories or someone else's - and why I love helping to recall a time, a person, or a special occasion.

Weddings and other events involve a lot of careful thought and planning, so when I photograph them I try to capture all that has left up to that magical moment. The joy of the day is something that moves me deeply, and is what I am dedicated to preserving for others to share, admire, and remember fondly.

When I photograph people, whether it's children or adults, I prefer to take the pictures among familiar surroundings. People gathered with their loved ones in places where memories already exist are ideal subjects for conveying the excitement, warmth or peace of the moment.

In constantly changing environments, I love the challenge of finding the small detail that might otherwise get overlooked. Using that detail, regardless of how tiny, I am able to tell the larger story that I want to share with the viewer. And after all, stories are what photographs are about.

Finally, with every photograph, I want to create an emotion. The only good photograph is one that makes you feel, and the ultimate judge of photography is not your head, but your heart.

Sincerely,

      Shallon Cunningham

"PHOTOGRAPHY IS A WAY OF FEELING, OF TOUCHING OF LOVING. WHAT YOU HAVE CAUGHT ON FILM IS CAPTURED FOREVER...IT REMEMBERS LITTLE THINGS LONG AFTER YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN EVERYTHING."
